Zoe McCormick
Educator and Creative with a love for literature.
Hi, I’m Zoe McCormick; creative, and garden-and-cats enthusiast from southeast Arizona.
I have lived in Phoenix, Sierra Vista, Hereford, and am now settled permanently in Tucson, Arizona.
I earned my Bachelor's of Arts in English, Anthropology, and Theatre Arts from the University of Arizona in 2022. Shortly thereafter, I earned my Master's of Education in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona.
I taught English at Flowing Wells High School and was an active member of the teachers' union from 2022-2025. I am now an academic advisor at the University of Arizona.
If I’m not face first in a book, you can find me hanging around my husband and two cats, puttering about in the garden, playing video games (variety is the spice of life), or composing poetry.
My work has been published in Unstrung Magazine (2015), and I am currently working on self-publishing her first chapter book.
I hope you will join me on the journey of continuing a longstanding love affair with literature, rediscovering a lost love of reading, or perhaps delving meaningfully into the world of words for the first time.
I’ll leave you with this quote from Bell Hooks, expressed in her 1994 book, Teaching to Transgress:
"The classroom remains the most radical space of possibility in the academy… urging all of us to open our minds and hearts so that we can know beyond the boundaries of what is acceptable, so that we can think and rethink, so that we can create new visions...".
